A couple years ago the VRod took a trip out West for a wedding that took place in the Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho. Seeing how beautiful that part of the country was, inspired me to see even more of it. I knew I wasn't going to return home without touring through Yellowstone, if I did it would just be unacceptable in my book. So, the journey through Yellowstone prevailed. I wanted to hit all the towns in Montana and Wyoming, but time was an issue. A route was established and away we went. Started out solo through Yellowstone but ended my tour with two other motorcyclists from other parts of the country. In from West Yellowstone and back out the same way. So much to see in that Park and so little time.....Of course a stop in Big Sky was a must enroute to Bozeman, after all, I was in BIG SKY country! Stopping off in the small town was one of the highlights of my trip. Just the taste of coffee, how nice and accommodating the people were that worked there, and the beautiful weather inspired me to want to return. I thought, if this is what Montana is all about, I definitely want to go back. This time, it's for five months in the winter where the tough get tougher and the weak go back to California. Winter time was always a special time of year for me. Finding challenges in that season but embracing all it had to offer. Sledding, building snow forts, making tunnels, ice skating, ski club, shoveling snow and watching the snow fall quietly have been engraved in my head. All those brought happiness and tranquility in the life of a little girl. OK, now let's fast forward many years to an established adulthood and the little girl still inside. Many ways she changed, but in some ways she is still the same........adventurous, daring, curious, independent. Just ask my mother about that, she has all the stories!
So in ten days the Subaru will be towing a trailer full of winter toys to enjoy and in my passenger compartment my two cats, Jack and Manny. Livingston, Montana here we come!
